Born in 1946. Studied at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where he received a law degree in 1969. He attended University College London, where he received a postgraduate degree in Maritime Law. From 1972 to 1982 he practiced law in Limassol, initially at the Law Office of M.M. Chouri & Co. and since 1978, as a partner in the Law Office Chrysses Demetriades & Co. LLC. In 1982 he was appointed Minister of Communications and Works and then in 1985 he was appointed Minister of Finance, a position he held until February 1988. From 1988 until today he practices law in Limassol in the law firm Chrysses Demetriades & Co. LLC. Christos Mavrellis was the Secretary of the International Tax Planning Association (ITRA), a member of the Senate of the Offshore Institute and an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. For more than eight years he was Vice President of the Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency (CIPA). Since 2017 he holds the position of president of the Cyprus Gaming & Casino Supervision Commission. He published numerous articles in international journals and presented various legal topics at international conferences and seminars. He is a member of the Board of Directors of various public and private companies.
