For the eighth consecutive year, the National Betting Authority is organising Safer Gambling Week, which will take place from 13 to 19 October 2025. This initiative aims to inform and raise awareness among the public, while actively engaging society in issues related to the promotion of safer gambling practices and the prevention of gambling-related harm.
The week has been designed to provide clear and accessible information on what constitutes safer gambling, the self-protection tools available to players, and the support mechanisms in place for individuals experiencing gambling-related harm. The overarching objective is to ensure that gambling remains a form of entertainment for those who choose to engage in it.
Throughout the week, a range of events and activities will be organised by relevant stakeholders across all districts of the Republic of Cyprus. Members of the public will have the opportunity to participate in presentations, educational programmes, experiential workshops, interactive activities, and more. Additional information on safer gambling is available on the official website: www.safergambling.gov.cy.
Safer Gambling Week has been established as a national platform for ongoing education, constructive dialogue, and effective collaboration among all stakeholders in the gambling sector. This includes industry professionals, regulatory bodies, support organisations, players, and the broader public.
The term “Safer Gambling” reflects a more comprehensive and inclusive approach, one that moves beyond the traditional emphasis on individual responsibility. It underscores the shared duty of all relevant actors — including the State, regulatory authorities, and gambling operators — to ensure a safe and sustainable gambling environment. This shift highlights that safeguarding the wellbeing of players is not solely a personal matter, but a collective responsibility that requires coordinated action and accountability across all levels of the sector.
The 8th Safer Gambling Conference will be held on Monday the 13th of October 2025, with the participation of distinguished academics and industry professionals.
A series of seminars addressed to the National Betting Authority’s supervised entities, casino employees, students, Mental Health professionals as well as all other relevant stakeholders.
Interactive workshops and fun quizzes aiming at practical training through the use of case studies, creating interesting discussion topics and leading an open discussion.
Events open to the public will take place in shopping malls, public universities, and numerous other venues across the country — with new locations being continuously announced.
