Since 2005 Dr. Bühringer is a Professor at the University of Dresden, Institute for Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy. In 1973-2012 he worked as a Director at the IFT Institut für Therapieforschung in Munich. His research focuses on etiology, course and reduction/cessation of SUD and gambling disorder, risk analyses and risk assessment, planning and evaluation of public health and regulation concepts with a focus on gambling and safety-sensitive workplaces (e.g. pilots) and gambling. His a member of scientific advisory boards and management boards of German and international associations in the field of addiction research and a member of the Scientific Committee, European Monitoring Centre of Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA).
