Simon is an Advisor on BIT’s Consumers and Business team, focusing on how we can utilise behavioural science to help consumers achieve better outcomes in regulated markets such as telecoms, energy, and gambling. Currently, Simon leads two projects commissioned by GambleAware, aimed at a) designing more effective safer gambling tools, and b) utilising bank transaction data to better understand the financial impacts of gambling. Both projects will feed directly into policy discussions at the industry regulator (Gambling Commission), and government (DCMS). Simon holds a PhD in cognitive psychology, awarded by Queen’s
University in Belfast. Before joining BIT he was a research fellow at Leeds University Business School, where he completed projects with partners including AON, Grant Thornton, and Citizens Advice.”
